TALSIK is acronym for Tanggalin ang mga Linta, Sagabal, Inutil, at Kurakot sa gobyerno!

LINTA – Government parasites who leech on public resources for their personal gain

SAGABAL – Obstructionist leaders who like to oppose but have nothing to propose

INUTIL – Officials whose ineptness and incompetence are exceeded only by their arrogance

KURAKOT – Thieves who masquerade as public servants so they can raid the people’s treasury

Group Mission: To help overcome poverty and underdevelopment by EFFECTIVELY eradicating corruption and incompetence in government

We are Filipinos who believe that there is hope for our people, that the solution to pervasive corruption, incompetence, poverty, and underdevelopment is not cynicism and despair but a deep understanding of the issues and a moral decision to take action. We commit ourselves to actively oppose and expose corruption and incompetence in government, as well as to relentlessly find, create, and promote ways to effectively help eradicate them for good.

We’re not just talk ... through our SOLUTIONS FORUM and a NETWORK OF COMMITTED ADVOCATES, we pursue concrete solutions and tangible results!

      Dear Ombudsman Marcelo,

It is with great gratitude that we acknowledge your ongoing efforts to
curb corruption, especially your desire to receive inputs from the
general public.  Below is an article about the Office of the Ombudsman
using the Internet to receive leads and tips about specific cases of
      corruption.

Talsik, a Web-based group of Filipinos from within the Philippines and
abroad (see www.talsik.com for more info), has committed to using
technology to bolster good governance efforts.  We hope to establish an
open link with your office to allow members to pass relevant information
on cases they are directly privy to.

Corruption is truly an endemic problem--the Office of the Ombudsman we
imagine is overwhelmed by all the complaints, partly because of your
lack of resources and because of lack of sufficient legal
substantiation.  We in Talsik hope to help by providing relevant
information and by pooling our resources to assist in the prosecution of
cases.  We are also open to suggestions you may have so we can fully tap
into the great desire of some 1,500 Talsik members to overcome the ugly
scourge of corruption in the country.

      Respectfully,

      Marvin Bionat

E-MAILS ON MILITARY GRAFT SWAMP OMBUDSMAN OFFICE
By Armand N. Nocum

E-mails from concerned citizens have provided the Office of the
Ombudsman with information on the alleged ill-gotten wealth of a number of colonels and generals.

"We have leads on the hidden pieces of property of generals. We have
started the second wave of our investigation," Ombudsman Simeon Marcelo said.

Those in the "first wave" include Maj. Gen. Carlos F. Garcia, a former
military comptroller accused of illegally amassing P143 million, and his aide, Lt. Col. George A. Rabusa, who is accused of amassing about P50 million.

Marcelo declined to reveal the names of the colonels and generals but
said some were in active service while the other had retired.

He said most of the assets of the military officials consisted of pieces
of real estate in the country.

"We have checked out one supposed palatial mansion owned by a general in
Mindanao and we got a positive result," Marcelo said at a lunch he
hosted for prosecutors at the Office of the Sandiganbayan in Quezon City.
